A Maine landlord is expected to plead guilty to killing two tenants in 2012.
Seventy-seven-year-old old James Pak of Biddeford is due in court Wednesday, charged with the murder of two people and attempted murder of a woman who survived being shot. His lawyer says Pak wants to spare himself, his wife and the victims' families the ordeal of a trial.
The incident happened after police were called to investigate a dispute over parking and snow removal in a shared driveway.
Court documents indicate Pak waited for police to leave on Dec. 29, 2012, before killing 19-year-old Derrick Thompson and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Alivia Welch, in an apartment rented by Thompson's mother. The mother was shot in the arm and back and survived by playing dead under the Christmas tree.
