Mental Evaluation Ordered for Man Charged in Wife's Death

Court documents say a psychological examination was ordered for a Maine man charged in the death of his wife, who was found partially buried in a shallow grave behind her in-laws' home last year.

Luc Tieman, of Fairfield, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of 34-year-old Valerie Tieman.

The Morning Sentinel reports that a pretrial conference is scheduled for May as 33-year-old Tieman and his lawyer await the delivery of medical records.

Tieman was scheduled Jan. 18 for an examination at Riverview Psychiatric Center for his trial, which is tentatively set for November. The evaluation is expected to help determine Tieman's defense and whether he's deemed competent to stand trial.

Valerie Tieman's body was found Sept. 20. Police say the woman was shot in the head and neck.
