Two months after two men from northern Maine were found fatally shot, a man from Presque Isle was indicted by a grand jury on two murder charges, state police said Friday.
Bobby Nightingale, 38, was already in the Aroostook County Jail on an unrelated weapons charge stemming from a week after the two Aug. 13 shooting deaths, police said in a statement.
The bodies of the two men from Castle Hill, 51-year-old Roger Ellis and 25-year-old Allen Curtis, were found in Ellis' red Chevrolet Silverado. Police initially thought the truck and a black ATV had collided.
Police said that the charges against Nightingale come from three incidents: a home invasion that happened in Presque Isle on Aug. 5, an Aug. 10 incident in Castle Hill that involved criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm and the Aug. 13 deaths.
Among the eight charges Nightingale faces are murder, burglary, robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
Castle Hill is a town of about 400 people just west of Presque Isle in Aroostook County, near the northern tip of Maine.
