Maine Gov. LePage Says He Will Not Attend Republican National Convention in Cleveland

An alternate will be selected to go in LePage's place if he sticks to his guns

Maine Gov. Paul LePage survived an attempt to keep him off the list of delegates to the Republican National Convention. But now he's decided to skip the event.

LePage told WVOM-FM on Tuesday that he decided against going to the GOP convention in Cleveland unless presumptive nominee Donald Trump tells him he needs help. LePage said, "If he calls, I'll be there."

An alternate will be selected to go in LePage's place if he sticks to his guns.

There was some drama at the state convention when it came to selecting delegates.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won the Maine GOP presidential caucuses and some Cruz supporters wanted an all-Cruz slate that would've left out the governor. In the end, the governor was selected to be part of the Maine delegation.
