Maine Man Who Babysat Kids Arrested for Child Porn, Police Say

Investigators think Chrstopher Raiche "may have taken dozens of sexually explicit photos of Maine children, all under the age of 12"

Police are looking to identify other potential victims after arresting a Maine man on suspicion of taking dozens of sexual pictures of young children.

Christopher Raiche, 28, of Skowhegan, was arrested Oct. 18 after a search of his Hilltop Drive home and remains in jail on bail, the Maine Department of Public Safety said Friday in a statement.

Although Raiche was charged with a single count of possessing sexually explicit material, "investigators think he may have taken dozens of sexually explicit photos of Maine children, all under the age of 12," according to the statement.

The state police Computer Crimes Unit and Homeland Security began investigating Raiche after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. In a search of his home, police took several electronic devices that authorities said are still being analyzed.

Raiche worked at T-Mobile's call center in Oakland but also baby sat children at his home and elsewhere, authorities said.

Raiche first appeared in court Oct. 21 and is being held on $250,000 bail. It's unclear when his next court appearance is, according to authorities.

While some children have been identified, investigators are hoping to identify other victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Public Safety communications center in Augusta at 207-624-7076.
