Maine Prisoner Charged with Attempting to Murder Other Inmate

Paul S. Andrews is facing 30 years in prison in addition to the 18 year sentence he is serving

A man serving a sentence in the Maine State Prison was charged with attempting to kill another inmate.

The Press Herald reports that 35-year-old Paul S. Andrews made his initial court appearance on Monday facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault for an incident which occured in July 2018. Andrews allegedly strangled Earl Huntley, a fellow inmate serving a nine year sentence.

In April 2018, Andrews was given an 18 year sentence for sexually assaulting a young girl, according to the Press Herald. Andrews’ earliest possible release is Fall 2032. With these new charges, he faces an additional 30 years.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for July 25.
