A St. Albans, Maine, man accused of killing his uncle is being held without bail until a hearing on May 6.
The Morning Sentinel reports that 24-year-old Jeremy Erving made his first appearance at Skowhegan District Court on Monday. He is charged with the shooting death of 53-year-old Randy Erving.
A police affidavit says Jeremy Erving told his girlfriend and his father that he shot his uncle in the back of the head Thursday and he didn't know why he did it.

The affidavit says Jeremy Erving had been arrested at 1 a.m. Friday on suspicion of driving with a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit. It says Erving confessed to the shooting when his girlfriend and father went to the Penobscot County Jail to bail him out.
