Man Dies in Maine Motorcycle Crash

For the 27th time in 2015, a motorcyclist has died in a Maine crash.

Police say 26-year-old Matthew Goodwin of Somersworth, New Hampshire, crashed at the corner of Lower Cross Road and Center Road in Lebanon Saturday night.

Goodwin skidded across the intersection and hit rocks and trees. Police say that speed was a factor. Officials will perform a blood test to determine if alcohol was a factor, as well.

He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

The number of motorcycle deaths in the state continues to climb. Five people were killed in crashes over Labor Day weekend. Safety officials say there may be more deaths this year than in any year since 1991, when 34 were killed in such crashes.

Police are continuing to investigate the Lebanon crash. Anyone with information is asked to call (207) 657-3030.
