Man Pleads Guilty in String of Car Break-Ins

Scott Britton pleaded guilty Tuesday in Androscoggin County Superior Court to two counts of theft, two counts of burglary and charges related to other offenses

A Lewiston, Maine, man accused of committing a rash of car break-ins has pleaded guilty to burglary charges.

The Sun Journal reports 19-year-old Scott Britton pleaded guilty Tuesday in Androscoggin County Superior Court to two counts of theft, two counts of burglary and charges related to other offenses.

A judge handed down multiple sentences and ordered him to pay restitution.

Police say Britton and an accomplice broke into several vehicles across the Goff Hill neighborhood in October 2014.

In one of the burglaries, police say Britton stole nearly $1,800 worth of camera equipment from a woman's car and $450 from a man's car.

Britton apologized for the burglaries at Tuesday's court hearing.
