Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping, Murdering Girlfriend

Zackery Mailloux of Bangor originally pleaded not guilty but he changed his plea during a court hearing Monday

A Maine man has pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping in the death of his girlfriend.

Zackery Mailloux of Bangor originally pleaded not guilty but he changed his plea during a court hearing Monday. Under the agreement, a rape charge was dropped. No sentencing date has been set.

The 23-year-old Mailloux was charged with killing Husson University student Brooke Locke.

Bangor police said they found the 21-year-old Locke's body Nov. 18, 2013, while responding to a complaint of domestic violence. According to court documents, she had been bound before being strangled.

Mailloux's attorney, Jeffrey Silverstein, said Monday that Mailloux pleaded guilty to spare the victim's family from a trial. The state plans to seek a life prison sentence.
