Man Pleads Not Guilty in Drug Deal Stabbing, Shooting

A 19-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he took part in a botched drug transaction at a South Portland, Maine, recreational complex.

The Portland Press Herald reports 19-year-old John Janums, of Falmouth, appeared in court Thursday to face attempted murder charges in the shooting of one man and stabbing of another.

Police say Ian Soule and Colin Harle, both 19, went to the Wainwright Recreational Sports Complex in March to sell marijuana to Janums and three others.

Soule was shot in the chest and Harle was stabbed in the back. Prosecutors say Janums was the getaway driver.

The other three have been indicted, including 19-year-old Zachary Swain, who authorities say stabbed Harle and fired the shot that hit Soule.

Janum's attorney didn't comment on the charges.
