A Biddeford, Maine, man accused of bringing a woman from Maine to prostitute her in New Hampshire has pleaded not guilty to a federal interstate pimping charge.
The Portland Press Herald reports 48-year-old Leo Grondin entered his plea on Tuesday. A grand jury indicted him last month on a felony charge of transporting an individual in interstate commerce with intent that she engage in prostitution.
Judge Nancy Torresen ordered Grondin to remain in custody while the case against him is pending. Biddeford police got a tip in the case against Grondin on July 9 when the daughter of a woman in her 50s called to report she discovered emails about prostitution on her mother's cellphone.
Police tracked Grondin and the woman to a New Hampshire hotel later in July.
