Maine state police say a standoff with an armed man in the town of Winthrop ended with no injuries.
Troopers say the man was taken into custody around midnight, about 3½ hours after police responded to reports of a man who was armed and despondent.
The man was in an apartment building Wednesday evening across Route 32 from Hussey's General Store.
Police did not identify the man, who was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for evaluation.
