Mass. Man Dies After Hit-and-Run in Maine

Authorities say a 41-year-old Limerick man was taken into custody after he later told officers that he had hit the pedestrian and left the scene

Authorities say a 47-year-old Massachusetts man has died from injuries suffered in a hit-and-run crash in Maine.

The York County Sheriff's Office says John Mullin was walking on the sidewalk near state Route 11 at around noon Monday in Limerick when a car rolled onto the sidewalk and hit him.

Crews took the Wilmington, Massachusetts, man to a Biddeford hospital. He was transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he died.

Authorities say a 41-year-old Limerick man was taken into custody after he later told officers that he had hit the pedestrian and left the scene. The sheriff's office says it was told that the car belonged to someone else and that the man didn't have permission to use it.

Sheriff William King Jr. says charges are anticipated.
