Massive House Blaze Destroys Classic Cars

The fire at a Lower Road property in the shore town of Harpswell was reported around 4:30 p.m. Monday

Firefighters battled a late afternoon blaze that bled into the evening hours after a garage fire spread to a home on Orr's Island along the southern Maine coast.

The fire at a Lower Road property in the shore town of Harpswell was reported around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The Brunswick Fire Department responded along with three village fire crews - Orr's & Bailey Islands, Harpswell Neck and Cundy's Harbor.

WCSH-TV reports the fire began in a car parked outside the garage, which neighbors say housed classic cars.

Several antique vehicles were destroyed in the garage before flames spread to the adjacent home, which also suffered extensive damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Orr's Island Fire Chief says the home was rendered "unlivable."
