Mom, 3-Year-Old Killed in Crash Involving Maine School Bus

A mom and her toddler were killed Friday following a crash with a school bus in Norridgewock, Maine.

State police said Amanda Carter, 36, and her three-year old son, Mark Schinzel, of New Portland, died at the scene.

An initial investigation showed that a school bus with students was traveling westbound on Route 2 when Carter failed to stop at an intersection. Police said Carter's Elantra was struck broadside.

The bus from Livermore Falls was carrying students back from a school function. No one on the bus was hurt.

Route 2 was shut down while police reconstructed the crash.
