Police say two men were "very drunk" when they broke into two Manchester, Maine, stores after their car ran out of gas.

Police arrested James Derosier, of Waterville, and Jeffrey Marshall Jr., of Albion, and charged them with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and violating conditions of release after the break-ins early Thursday.

Sheriff's Sgt. John Bourque says the pair ran out of gas at about 2:30 a.m. He says they walked a short distance, and then used a rock to smash the front door of the Pizza Stone restaurant and steal money. Police allege they then went to a nearby Circle K convenience store and kicked in the door.

The Morning Sentinel reports
that they were arrested when police went to check on the convenience store's burglar alarm.
