Police are on scene of an officer-involved shooting in Carmel, Maine.
Officials told necn affiliate WCSH that the incident occurred Sunday morning around 9 a.m. on Route 2. Nine homes in the area are currently blocked off and residents are asked not to leave their homes.
A female pedestrian with a homemade weapon was allegedly causing damage and threatening motorists. According to officials, she approached a deputy of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, who shot her.
The patient was taken to a hospital, where she is being treated.
