Portland, Maine, Motorist Overdoses With 5-Year-Old in Car

Police say an unidentified man driving with a 5-year-old passenger lost consciousness after overdosing on opiates in Portland's Old Port.

Deputy Fire Chief Terry Walsh said emergency responders revived the man Sunday evening by administering Narcan, a medication used to reverse the effects of opioids.

The Portland Press Herald reported Monday that charges are likely.

Emergency responders were alerted when a car backed onto the sidewalk in front of a pub. Law enforcement officials haven't released the name of the man.
