Portland police detectives were working with the state medical examiner's office and the attorney general's office on the investigation.
Friends and neighbors say they are feeling nervous, knowing the shooter is still at large and they're saddened to learn the identity of the deceased victim.
"He was a very good friend of mine, and I love him," said Tammy Shaw, who lives across the street from the Shalom House. "It's just awful."
Shaw said Anderson would regularly visit her and her son, bringing him toys and video games
"He never hurt anyone," said Shaw. "He was kind to everyone. He was the kind of kid that would give you his last dollar."
Police have not offered a possible motive for the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact Portland Police at 207-874-8533 or 207-874-8575.
