Authorities in Maine are still searching for an inmate who escaped from prison Thursday evening.
The search remains focused in the wooded area behind Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston, Maine.
Department of Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick said 65-year-old Arnold Nash was last seen around 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the minimum security unit at the Mountain View Correction Facility. Authorities said they believe he is still somewhere in the Charleston area and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt.
It's been reported that Nash has escaped from behind bars several times before, first when he was in his 20s and again in 1981. His second escape led authorities on a 22-day chase, which is still known as one of Maine's most extensive manhunts.
Officials said Nash should not be approached if seen and anyone with information is asked to contact local police.
Nash was serving a 45-year sentence for robbery and murder. He began serving his sentence on May 29, 1992 and was scheduled for release next year.
