A man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed his mother in Maine on Friday night.

The victim, later identified as 49-year-old Halimo Azair, was flown to Maine Medical Center and is now being treated for stab wounds. Officials say her injuries are serious.

The stabbing happened near a small barn on the woman's property at 195 Dawes Hill Road in Harrison around 8 p.m. Friday. Azair was feeding livestock at the time of the stabbing, police said.

Azair's son, Mohamed Noh, 24, has been arrested and is charged with elevated aggravated assault.

Noh is due in court on Monday. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
