Taxi Driver Escapes Passenger Firing Shots

Police in Maine say a man faces multiple charges after he allegedly threatened a cab driver and fired shots from a handgun.

South Portland police say 51-year-old Adam Stockley of Cape Elizabeth was found inside a house on Sawyer Street, near where the cab driver had abandoned his car and fled on foot after the 1 a.m. Sunday incident. Police say several spent shell casings were near the cab.

Stockley is charged with reckless conduct, criminal threatening and theft. Police say he is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $25,000 bail. Police say they uncovered a handgun during a search of the Sawyer Street home.

It was not immediately known if Stockley has a lawyer.

Police said it's "safe to say alcohol played a role."
