Two people have been charged with providing alcohol to two 14-year-old girls from Rockland, Maine, who had to be placed on life support due to alcohol poisoning.
Brenda Shepard, 63, and Ryan Newbert, 19 - both of Rockland - have been charged with aggravated furnishing of alcohol to minors. Newbert is also facing a charge of aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs.
Police say Shepard is Newbert’s grandmother.
Rockland Police said they received a report back in February from someone saying they saw males pulling an unconscious female into a car and driving northbound on Main Street.

Police found two 14-year-old girls unconscious in the vehicle. They were initially taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center, placed on life support, and then flown to Maine Medical Center via medical helicopter for further treatment.
Police say the girls eventually made a full recovery. They issued Shepard a summons for aggravated furnishing of alcohol in March, and spent weeks trying to locate Newbert.
He was arrested and charged Monday night. Police say in addition to alcohol, he gave the girls sedatives.
