Vandals Slash Tires to Entire Fleet of School Buses Forcing Cancellation of Classes in Maine District

A school district in Maine was forced to cancel classes on Wednesday after vandals slashed tires to the entire fleet of school buses.

Regional School Unit 16, which covers Minot, Mechanic Falls and Poland, announced that both buses and trucks were vandalized, adding that mechanics were working to repair the damage.

"All of our Poland buses and trucks have been damaged. At this point, it appears to be limited to slashed tires. We have called in an order for the tires and our mechanics will be working hard today to have the buses repaired and ready for school tomorrow," the district said in a Facebook post.

School district officials said the buses are monitored by a security system which they hope will provide evidence leading to an arrest.
