Wildfires Burn More Than 100 Acres in Maine

Wildfires reportedly burned more than 100 acres of land in multiple parts of Maine Wednesday.

The Maine Forest Rangers said Wednesday night that about 60 acres were burning in the towns of Kennebunk, Sanford and Wells. Earlier in the day, as NBC affiliate News Center Maine reports, another 52-acre brush fire was extinguished more than 160 miles away in Atkinson.

Rangers said just before 9 p.m. that the later fire was about 50 percent contained. Two dozers were set up to line the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
