Woman Killed, Man Hurt in Maine Car Crash

A woman was killed and her husband was injured in a single car crash on I-95 in Maine Sunday morning.

State police say the crash happened around 10:45 a.m. just south of Medway.

Forty-nine-year-old Sandra Gifford of Hermon was killed instantly when the car she was driving went off the road and into the median, causing it to roll over and finally rest on its roof, according to state police.

Her husband, 55-year-old Kevin Gifford, was also hurt in the crash, but his injuries were described as non-life threatening by authorities. He's being treated by doctors at the Millinocket Hospital.

Police say it's not clear why Sandra Gifford lost control of the Subaru Legacy.
