21-Year-Old Killed in Tewksbury Rollover Car Crash

Chris Otero was killed when his 2008 Honda Accord coupe "struck the median guardrail barrier, rolled over, and came to rest in the median," police said

Authorities have identified the young man who was ejected from his car in a rollover crash on Route 495 north in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, early Friday morning.

Chris Otero, a 21-year-old male from Haverhill, was killed when his 2008 Honda Accord coupe "struck the median guardrail barrier, rolled over, and came to rest in the median," state police said. Authorities are still working to determine why Otero lost control of his car.

Massachusetts State Police and Tewksbury Police responded to the scene just south of Route 38 around 2:19 a.m.

Tewksbury Firefighters and EMS attempted life-saving measures on scene, but were unsuccessful. Otero was taken to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Both northbound and southbound lanes have since reopened. They were closed for some time Friday morning for crash reconstruction.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
