The supermarket chain Market Basket is ending it's four percent discount on Saturday after nearly a year.
Some Market Basket customers thought that the discount should be extended as a reward for remaining loyal to the company as cousins Arthur S. And Arthur T. Demoulas battled for control of the company, causing weeks of employee protests and empty shelves.
Market Basket, along with other supermarkets, have been dealing with a recent spike in food costs, which ruled out keeping the discount in place; however, customers agree that prices at Market Basket are still lower than other supermarkets.
