1 Man Killed, 2 Women Injured in Shooting at Lynn Playground

A dog was also shot, though its condition remains unknown

A 34-year-old man has been killed and two women injured in a triple shooting at Warren Street Playground in Lynn on Saturday evening, authorities say.

The two women wounded were 18 and 20 years old, according to the Essex District Attorney. A dog was also shot and taken to a local animal shelter, Lynn Police said. The animal's condition remains unknown.

Witnesses say that more than a dozen shots were fired shortly after 7 p.m. on Warren Street, which had a block party on one side and a basketball court on the other.

"We heard one more shot out there and as we looked over we saw a kid on the ground, so I ran over there and I got his pulse just to see if he was still alive," said Lynn City Councilman Fred Hogan, who witnessed the shooting. "He did not have a pulse."

A basketball tournament between West Lynn and East Lynn was underway on the court at the time.

Authorities say the shooter or shooters have not been apprehended.

Massachusetts State Police have joined Lynn Police in the active investigation.
