1 Teen Charged With Murder in Another's Stabbing Death

Investigators say 17-year-old William Wheeler was stabbed during an altercation, and later died at a local hospital

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday after allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old to death overnight in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Authorities received a call of the stabbing just before midnight Wednesday near the area of 96 Fountain St., according to the Bristol County District Attorney's office. There, responding officers found William Wheeler on the floor of an apartment suffering from a stab wound.

Wheeler was taken to St. Anne's Hospital, where he later died.

Thursday night, the DA's office said a 16-year-old male from Fall River had been arrested by members of the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force working with U.S. Marshals and Massachusetts authorities.

The teen suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, has been charged with murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
