2 Arrested After Assaulting Police Officers

Police officers were attacked while serving arrest warrants in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Wednesday.

On Monday, Sept. 14, 19-year-old Jillian Keans and 23-year-old Ryan Madelle attacked an officer that was looking to speak with them regarding an assault and to arrest Madelle on outstanding warrants.

At this time, Keans jumped on the officer's back and attempted to choke him. She then removed his collar microphone to hinder him from calling for backup. Madelle then punched the officer in the face and the two fled from the scene.

Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to an apartment on Gates Street to serve them warrants. Officers made their way to the basement and ultimately found them hiding under a stairwell. Keans tried to run for police before surrendering, and Madelle assaulted an officer before trying to obtain a knife from the ground with a ten inch blade. Officers were able to put him in handcuffs before he retrieved it.

Keans was charged with resisting arrest and had an outstanding warrant. Madelle was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest in addition to the outstanding warrant.
