2 Beaches Closed Due to Harmful Bacteria

Dane Street and Woodbury both tested positive for the bacteria Wednesday

Two beaches in Beverly, Massachusetts, will be closed to the public until further notice due to high levels of harmful bacteria, according to The Salem News.

They report that Dane Street and Woodbury both tested positive for the bacteria Wednesday. The water has been closed off to swimmers, but visitors can still sit on the sand.

The beaches could reopen for the weekend if the bacteria levels lower.

According to the state Department of Public Health website, heightened bacteria levels can cause vomiting, respiratory levels and can affect the skin, among other issues.
