2 Convicted of 2nd-Degree Murder in Shooting

25-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 22-year-old Joshua Santos were convicted Tuesday of the June 2013 shooting of Juan Quinones.

Two men have been found guilty of second-degree murder for a shooting in Holyoke, Massachusetts, two years ago that prosecutors described as a gang hit.

The Republican newspaper reports that 25-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 22-year-old Joshua Santos were convicted Tuesday of the June 2013 shooting of Juan Quinones.

Prosecutors say Rodriguez and Santos, both of Springfield, shot Quinones on the back porch of an apartment building.

Prosecutors say Santos was a ranking member of the La Familia street gang, which had ordered the hit on Quinones. No clear motive for the shooting was disclosed at trial.

Both men face a mandatory prison term of life with the possibility of parole in 15 years at sentencing next Monday.

One more man awaits trial in the case.
