3 Injured in Head-On Crash in Saugus, Massachusetts; Driver Charged

A teenager has been charged after a head-on crash in Saugus, Massachusetts, left three people injured Saturday, police said. 

According to officers, the driver of one vehicle was seriously injured, and two passengers in the second vehicle were critically injured, one being ejected from the car. Officials said the driver of the second car had fled the scene when responders arrived. 

Authorities said the accident happened just after midnight at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Seville Street. 

Sunday, police announced 19-year-old Ronald Jarosz had been arrested and charged with reckless operation, leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury and two felony counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Officers said they Jarosz crossed the double yellow line with his Ford Mustang GT and crashed head-on into a Toyota SUV.

Both local and state police are investigating the incident. 

Officials said the road was closed for about four hours after the crash, but the scene is now clear. The three injured have been transported to hospitals with serious injuries, police said. 

Authorities have not released any other information.
