3 Suspected Car Thieves Arrested Following Wild Chase in Mass.

The suspects are allegedly a part of a Rhode Island-based crew that steals cars, as well as rims and tires, from several communities south of Boston

Three Rhode Island men have been arrested in connection with a string of thefts in Massachusetts, but another remains at large following a wild police pursuit.

State police said troopers conducting surveillance in Sharon on Tuesday approached two suspicious vehicles shortly after 7 p.m. The vehicles fled, triggering a large police search.

Both vehicles later crashed separately, one on Cottage Street and the other on Beach Street, state police said. Following the crashes, suspects fled on foot.

One suspect was located nearby by a K-9 unit. The suspect sustained injuries from the crash and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before his arrest.

A little more than an hour later, officers located a Jeep Compass outside Sharon High School. When a state trooper approached the car, the Jeep sped away onto Route 95 south, prompting a chase. The Jeep crashed near Exit 4 in North Attleboro, with the car’s occupants fleeing the scene on foot.

State police said two additional suspects who fled from the initial crashes were captured by Sharon police and arrested. They said at least one of the Jeep’s occupants remains on the loose.

The suspects arrested were identified as 21-year-old Kemoni Mithcell, 26-year-old Joshua Tangui and 24-year-old Marcos Torres, all from Providence. They are allegedly a part of a Rhode Island-based crew that has stolen cars, as well as rims and tires, from several communities south of Boston.

They are expected to be arraigned at Stoughton District Court Wednesday, with the exact charges they face being announced then.
