A 5-year-old girl was left in a school van Friday in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, police say.
Police responded around 1:30 p.m. to 92 Hollingsworth St., where a witness reported hearing the child cry inside the vehicle.
The operator, who was found on the scene, did not know the girl was in the van, police say.
Investigators say the child was supposed to be taken to Paige Academy in Roxbury. Her mother was notified and took custody of the girl.
At this point, no charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation.
