Police: Woman in Mobility Scooter Hit by Car

A 60-year-old woman was hospitalized with lacerations to the head after she was struck by a vehicle in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

The incident was reported just after 9 a.m. Monday in the area of 9 Boatswains Way, the Chelsea Fire Department said. The victim was riding a mobility scooter at the time of the pedestrian crash, according to officials.

Authorities say the woman was alert when they arrived at the scene. She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. The extent of her injuries is unclear.

A woman at the scene of the crash told NBC10 Boston identified the victim as her sister, Joanne Hooley, and said her sister was shaken by the crash.

It's unclear if the vehicle involved in the pedestrian crash stopped at the scene.
