An 8-year-old Cambridge, Massachusetts, boy suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a truck while crossing the street Tuesday evening.
According to Massachusetts State Police, the incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on Land Boulevard.
The boy was crossing the street with an adult relative and two relatives, ages 8 and 11. Police say investigation shows the boy ran ahead of the adult and into an area of the road with no crosswalk.
He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital following the incident. His current condition is unknown.
The driver, a 53-year-old man, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
No charges have been filed, but the Middlesex DA's Office and state police are investigating.
