Domestic Assault Charges Dismissed on Prison Guard

Prosecutors have dismissed charges against a Massachusetts prison guard who had been charged with holding a gun to his girlfriend's head during a domestic dispute last year.

The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1ViNp9y ) reports that the Worcester district attorney's office dropped charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a household member against 49-year-old Jaime Fuentes on Tuesday.

Fuentes has been on paid administrative leave for the past 14 months. He has been employed by the state Department of Correction for nearly 28 years and most recently worked at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley.

Fuentes' attorney argued last year that 44-year-old Nelly Rivera made up the accusations out of spite. The prosecution's case suffered a serious blow when Rivera declined to testify.
