A judge has set bail for three people who prosecutors say carried out a kidnapping plot over a drug deal gone bad in western Massachusetts.

The Berkshire Eagle reports
a judge set bail for 23-year-old Emanuel Diaz, 22-year-old Dashaan Golden, both of Lee, and 24-year-old Kamara Pellot, of Pittsfield, at a Tuesday dangerousness hearing. They face kidnapping and assault charges.

Two men told authorities they were lured to a remote location to buy drugs in Lee on Jan. 26 and were attacked by a group of armed men. Authorities say one man was taken to a basement, beaten and tortured.

Defense attorneys say the state has no direct evidence linking their clients to the incident.

Bail for Pellot and Golden was set at $500. Diaz's was set at $1,000.
