Baker Agrees to Buzz Cut for Charity

Mass. Gov. Baker planning to shear off most of his locks next week

Beacon Hill could soon see another gleaming dome - this one on top of Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker's head.

Baker is planning to shear off most of his graying locks next week, all in the name of charity.

The Republican agreed to the buzz cut as part of a hair-razing fundraising drive to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The event is spearheaded by Granite Telecommunications in Quincy. Baker will join more than 500 company employees who will also be shaving their heads April 7.

The event is expected to raise $2.5 million.

The drive began last year when the company, including CEO Rob Hale, donated more than $2.2 million to Dana Farber after 428 Granite employees shaved their heads or beards.

The shearing will take place Tuesday morning at the company.
