Boston Building Evacuated After Gas Leak

The Boston Fire Department was on scene Friday afternoon

A 3-story building at 192 Amory Street in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood was evacuated Friday afternoon by the Boston Fire Department.

According to the BFD contractors were doing work on gas lines and gas started leaking into some of the rooms.

The fire department evacuated the building as a precaution.  

The gas has been turned off and the Boston Fire Department is leaving the scene.

National Grid arrived on scene after a contractor hit a pipe and turned the gas off.

According to National Grid the building owner is responsible for repairs and inspection and cannot turn the gas back on until all repairs are done.
