Boston Celtics to Sign Al Horford

The Boston Celtics just got bigger.

The team has agreed to sign former Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford to a 4-year, $113 million contract, a max deal, according to ESPN.

Horford didn't announce the terms, but the 6'10, 245-pound veteran indicated on Twitter that he's on board.

He also changed his avatar and header photo to reflect his new team.

The center, who turned 30 last month, has averaged 14.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks per game over the course of his career. He has been named an All Star four times, including the last two seasons.

News of the deal came after the Celtics made their push to lure Kevin Durant — a pitch that involved Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Horford joining up could be a major selling point to the star free agent forward, assuming the team is also able to fit a max deal for him under the salary cap.

Health has been a concern for Horford in the past, with him playing in just 11 games in 2011–12 and 29 in 2013–14. But he played 76 games the year before last and started all 82 last season.
