Authorities knocked down a 2-alarm fire in Boston's South End neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Boston Fire says they responded at 8:52 a.m. to 25 Worcester Square for a fire inside a five-story brick building.
Officials say the fire started after wood beams under the hearth of a fireplace on the fifth floor ignited. There was no fire in the fire in the fireplace at the time.
One firefighter was transported for a lacerated finger.
The fire chief estimates the damage at $500,000. There is fire damage on the fourth and fifth floors and water and smoke damage on all floors.
