Boston Man Dies Trying to Save Boaters in Calif. Lake

The body of 27-year-old Sayen Sengupta was found under water by a remotely operated vehicle

A Boston man died trying to save two boaters in Lake Tahoe, according to authorities in California.

Authorities responded to a call of a person in distress near the area of Dollar Point Pier, where a vessel carrying 13 passengers was located. There, boaters told sheriff deputies they were towing three people on an inner-tube when two people fell into the water.

The boat’s operator, 27-year-old Sayen Sengupta, jumped into the water to help the two boaters and was last seen swimming toward them. He failed to resurface.

A search ensued and Sengupta’s body was eventually found under water by a remotely operated vehicle.
