Boston Mayor Marty Walsh Talks Housing, Climate Change at Chamber of Commerce Event

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh joined the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce for an event Tuesday in which he touched upon housing, environmentally-conscious efforts and education in the Hub.

The Democrat discussed ways he and other city leaders have reversed the housing crisis Boston faced when Walsh first took office. According to Walsh, the city is on its way to create 1,000 new homeowners this year.

"I'm hoping as this election progresses, we have a partner in the White House because it makes a big difference," the mayor said regarding housing.

Walsh also touched upon the city's efforts to be more environmentally friendly. He said he will head to the 2019 C40 World Mayors Summit in Copenhagen on Tuesday to discuss efforts to slow climate change.

After the summit is complete, the mayor plans to deliver an update on the climate action plan created. Walsh said the plan lays out steps Boston will take to be carbon-free by 2050, a move he called "necessary and attainable."

Walsh spoke at the Government Affairs Forum at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.
