Boston Motorcycle Officer Injured in Accident

A motorcycle officer with the Boston Police Department was injured in an accident near the Museum of Science on Thursday morning.

Boston Police originally said the officer was part of the motorcade getting ready for the arrival of Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton. But they later corrected that statement, saying that the officer was actually part of the motorcade for Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who spoke at Harvard University on Thursday.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. at 1 Science Park. The officer is said to be suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, but police said they believe that another vehicle was involved.

A photo from the scene showed a police motorcycle on its side, with a car nearby and several pieces of debris on the ground.

The road was reportedly blocked off in the area, and there was a heavy police presence on scene.
