Officer Sustains Minor Injuries While Chasing Suspect

A Boston Police officer was transported to a city hospital after a brief chase in the city's Mattapan neighborhood Tuesday night.

According to police, the call initially came in around 7:48 p.m. for a suspect exposing himself on Tennis Road. Upon arrival, 32-year-old Carlos Agrinsoni exposed himself to a responding officer. Officer Garcia called for backup as Agrinsoni said "I just want to go home," and started running towards his residence at 85 Tennis Road.

Officer Doherty arrived on scene to assist. An altercation broke out between Officer Doherty and Agrinsoni, resulting in Officer Doherty to sustain lacerations to his forehead.

Officer Doherty, a 27-year veteran of the police department, was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Agrinsoni was ultimately taken into custody. He is charged with open and gross lewdness, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. Police say he is known to them.
