Built Up Trash Leads to Boston Apartment Building Fire

Authorities responded overnight to a two-alarm fire in a trash compactor in a Boston apartment building.

Residents of the 27-story building at 770 Boylston St. were evacuated based on smoke conditions.

Once the meters indicated air quality within normal limits, residents were able to return to their units.

No one suffered any injuries.

Firefighters say there was several feet of trash built up in a garage trash chute that ignited.

The building contains 243 apartments.
